Honored with a Guest Blogger Spot, my goal is to contribute substance to the http://StateBudgetSolutions.org/ site. This information is presented for consideration in SOLUTIONS: REDUCE STATE SPENDING, and raises awareness of an underlying requirement for Budget Control, Regaining State Sovereignty, and Green Economy Mythology.

Denver is close to home and in transition from Conservative to Liberal over the past few years so I started pulling threads with this years office of Economic Development Budget Report from a Pioneer Sanctuary City-Denver, CO

It takes money to spend (Federally Redistributed) money. Worse than the increase in Local & State Government overhead to handle this 'manna from D.C.', the federal subsidy always comes with sovereignty stealing “mandates”. When times were better (good?), there was no stopping this juggernaut. Now that we are experiencing a steady decline in Revenue at all levels of Government, States have a unique opportunity to stop the incursion into their jurisdiction and reduce the budget -Sorry, No Money.

When the purse strings from Washington are cut, your State enjoys sovereignty. Until then, the profligate spending Federal squid is dragging the State budget to the bottom, and economic peril.

How did we get here?

Each incursion into the States Domain starts with a premise that we can “ALL AGREE ON”. What the Politician Says (the sale) is never what he Signs (as we heard it).

So it truly is a Communication Gap between the TAX Payer, and the Bureaucrats in which we have blindly entrusted our destiny. -Everybody agrees that Economic Development is a “Good Thing” -Too Bad thats not what Goes on in Most Cities Office of Economic Development (OED) -A truth in advertising Label for http://GlobalUrban.org/ recommended practices would reflect the real objective. More Equal Economic Re-Distribution.

When originally conceived, the OED was a marketing think tank, producing Incentive Programs (Tax & Land Deals) to steal businesses from other states or bringing them in from offshore to the growing city -in need of ever an increasing TAX base.

Today, the OED is a malignant HYDRA – with increasing layers of redundant bureaucrats handling money for other Departments, and injecting the City Culture and Regulations with ideology like “Sustainable Economic Development”. The Denver OED includes two internal departments spending HUD and other assistance, which are likely redundant, however; my research revealed OED is the home of a more troubling current trend. Green Economy Mythology.

Listed accomplishments from the Denver Budget Summary, Office of Economic Development include “Greener Denver”.

Established the Greener Denver initiative, an integrated economic development strategy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while expanding economic opportunities for local businesses and residents.   Through Greener Denver, OED is: o Helping to increase energy efficiency, increasing renewable energy use and expanding “smart growth” investments by business and community. o Increasing clean technology industry growth and green supply chain development. o Developing Denver’s green talent pool by training the green workforce of the future while preparing clean tech entrepreneurs.

I can't find ANYTHING on the Denver Web Site to substantiate the Greener Denver “accomplishments”, and the leader just vacated office for a position at Climate Prosperity Inc. They have a web site, but I think Global Urban has everything you need to begin unraveling this sham in one place. http://www.globalurban.org/projects.htm

Climate Prosperity, not likely

The only thing I can see that is Sustainable about this scheme is Higher Education Grants and Consulting Fees for the looters creating eyewash entrancing our intellectually superior bureaucrats. If you recall the ISO 9000 craze, Consultants thrived as businesses productivity dived in mountains of bureaucratic paper.

Schools and Consultants win – Politicians get re-investment benefits - John Q. Taxpayer LOSES with this blatant waste on Local, State and Federal Levels.

Every Dollar from the FEDERAL TREASURY comes with Strings.

It may seem difficult to cut the strings and refuse the Money,

 but it is TRULY Sustainable.
